Start of Round 2

Looking a little beat up and exhausted after an extra long day at the hospital. Learned I had low platelets today but the doc said I'm a tough guy so lets get to this thing. Just want to thank Pops & Melissa for the bandanas...they're awesome! Definitely made my day!!

This Morning til this Afternoon B4 & After

Before & After

Hair Loss

Well I thought I was doing pretty good & hoping I was going to keep my hair through the first round or two, but when I woke up this morning and ran my fingers through my hair I looked at my hand & it was covered in hair. Clumps & clumps just keep coming out as I run my hands through my hair so I decided to check out my chin and the same thing...clumps of facial hair falling out as I touch it. This is just so weird & crazy....

Pics of "Powder" Nicholas will get posted tonight

Relief

Wow! Woke up Thursday morning and my knee was the size of a grapefruit.... two days later I wake up to my knee being totally fine no more swelling. Miraculous almost how our bodies adapt and adhere to the wear and tear of life. We r so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for. Our bodies can take so much more its the willingness of the brain that controls our fate.

Side Effects

Ugh just when I thought things were getting easier here come the side effects. Skin rash kind of like eczema pops up on my arms and chest, my throat and nose keep bleeding from dryness and there's inflammation in my right knee so i can hardly walk. Shortness of breath and fatigue are common but my appetite is still good with no signs of nausea. Doc app tomorrow at 930 will update afterwards. thanks for all the support you'll much love Nicholas

First Weekend with No Chemo

Man the weekend was a little tough...some nausea, weakness & a little dizziness, a lot of soreness, some unneeded stress but all and all not too bad. I'm stayin' hydrated and the Meds seem to be workin' once the nausea subsidedand, I was actually eating like a horse so definitely some positives. It was nice seein' Pauly V and Irving Beauregard hope to see more of you all soon. I'm optimistic about getting through these two off weeks w/out incident. Thanks everyone out there who continue to help and support me.

Survived the 1st Day & Feeling Good

Yesterday was Nicholas's first day receiving chemotherapy treatments. He says so far so good, just a little minor nausea so far. He's also feeling good about everyone who has contacted him or left messages or shared his blog on FB. He was very pleasantly surprised by all the well wishes he received & the amount of people that care for him. He thought he was pretty much alone in this endevour and you have all showed him he's anything but. Nichols is usually a pretty private person so this is a very big step for him and with all the support you all are giving he is happy that he is going to be sharing his journey of kicking cancer's butt with all of you! Thank you so much for all your kind words!!

Port Placed

January 25,2013 Nicholas went in to University Hospital in Syracuse and had his port surgically placed in his chest. In 2 weeks this is where they will be connecting him up to receive his chemotherapy treatment instead of having to keep hooking him up to IVs.
